Tonight, as we were getting the kids ready for bed...
Me: Bernadette, go pick out your story for tonight.
B: We shouldn't read fun books, we should only read the Bible because it is about Jesus.
Me: Did someone tell you that, or did you come up with it on your own?
B: I came up with it on my own. It is my rule. We should only read the Bible.
Me: Well, we should always try to learn about Jesus and the Bible is about Jesus, so you're right we should read it. It is okay to read fun books, too, though.
Much to our delight, she has been picking their Children's Bible among other things to read lately, particularly since we showed them the pics and talked about the Passion parts during Holy Week. I never asked her why she kept picking it because I didn't want to discourage her, but I guess now we know. I've always hoped that our children's faith would sometime surpass our own, but I guess I expected it to be later than 3 1/2. And that's just Bernadette. Clare is infatuated with Baby Jesus and would hug and kiss holy pics and rosaries all day if we let her.

Love it! Andrew went through a phase where everything was somehow Church related. Tinkertoys were always made into crosses, deflated balloons on a string where thuribles, & his own version of the Gloria was heard all day long. Isn't it awesome to have our kids be reminders to pray always?
