I read this on Aubrey's blog a few weeks ago and enjoyed reading her answers, so I thought I'd give it a try. She was prompt in sending questions, but due to family business, I was unable to get to them until now.
Here's how it works:
1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
2. I will respond by e-mailing you 5 questions.
3. You update your blog with the answers to the questions.
4. You include this explanation and an offer to interview others.
5. When you receive the comment from another, you will send them 5 questions.
1. What is your greatest triumph?
My greatest triumph is my kids. At least, I hope that will be my greatest triumph. I hope that some day when I am standing before the pearly gates I can truly and proudly say that I did my best.
2. What modern invention do you appreciate the most?
Currently, I'd have to say Facebook. I'm not just saying that because I like to check up on my old classmates. Recently, my brother underwent a major heart surgery. I made a group on Facebook asking for prayers for him. Today, there are over 200 people in this group. If it wasn't for Facebook, that's 200 people who probably wouldn't have even known he was having surgery, let along praying for him. I feel weird saying this, but thank God for Facebook!
3. What do you indulge in when you treat yourself? I am finding more and more that when I need a minute to myself during the day, a nice hot shower revitalizes me. I say it is an indulgement (if that's even a word) for two reasons: 1) When my husband comes home in the evenings and I've had a particularly hard day, he'll sometimes take the girls to the grocery store or the library to give me a reprieve. I often use this time to take a nice long shower. 2) Sometimes, (again, sometimes!) when its just one of those days, I'll shower in the mornings when the baby is taking her nap. I give Bernadette strict instructions to play and not be too curious while I'm in the shower and to knock on the door if Clare wakes up. In the two times (I think) that I've done this, she has been an angel. And for a two year old, that's amazing. She has a really good guardian angel. Every chance I get I also indulge myself in a good book and a cup of hazelnut latte made with chocolate soy milk. (Clare is dairy intolerant)
4. If you were giving a short graduation speech, what advice would you give to the graduates?
If I was giving a graduation speech, I would include two pieces of advice.
1 - Pray, pray, pray while you can! Set up good prayer habits while you can. Make time to pray the rosary every day now before your life fills up with the real world. If you haven't made those commitments to your personal prayer life first, once the real world hits, personal prayer time will be gone before you know it.
2 - Cling to your family. Mend any tears before they become scars. Only focus on things you can change about yourself. Don't blame others for the state of your relationship. If your parents haven't called you in a month, call them! You can't judge others actions, so change yours instead. Don't hold grudges.
5. Did you go to college? If so, what did you study? If not, what would you study if you could?
I attended UNL for two semesters. The first semester I was a Mechanical Engineering major, the second I was undeclared (or MRS ;) ) I quit because, in my first year, I found what I was looking for (my husband). I didn't like college and I wasn't good at it - or at least not as good as I would like to have been. I don't regret dropping out. I may go back some day when I'm old and my kids are all grown, but I probably won't since my dream job is to be a librarian. :)
Well, that's it! Thanks Aubrey!

Did I really fail to comment on this when I first read it? Man, I'm slacking!
ReplyDeleteThanks for doing the interview! I also LOVE a hot shower. I realized how much I'd taken for granted when Morgan (who used to watch Isaiah for me while I showered) went off to school. Now I've got to get it accomplished in the morning very quickly!
Cheers! :)
