That’s Just Wrong.

I heard a quote once that goes “Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.” This quote has been in my mind over the past few weeks as we went through all of our stuff for a garage sale. While searching through our storage things, we found a whole container full of stuffed animals. Ridiculous. So, we gathered up all of the stuffed animals in the house and laid them out on our queen sized bed.

We then each when through and picked out our favorites and put the rest on our sale, then donated what didn’t sell. It just makes me sick to think about all the space these things have been taking up in our house – especially knowing that they were just stored away where no one even remembered them.

When my husband and I got married, we never went through our things, we just kept it all. These last couple of weeks we’ve been sorting through EVERYTHING and getting rid of lots of garbage, and donating lots of boxes full of good things, just things we don’t need. It feels good to lighten our load.

  1. It is just ridiculous all the things we keep and so freeing when we get rid of it. I didn't think I should part with my wedding cards but had not looked at them for 29 years so guess I didn't need them. It feels so good to get rid of all the extra baggage and easier to manage when we have less of it.

  2. Well said Kati! I love purging and do it often. I am not a collector and love to live it "simple". Great job!

  3. That photograph is so ridiculous! :-) I'm personally not a huge fan of stuffed animals as they seem to be more of a dust collector once the kids are at a certain age. We only have a few, but at one time had too many...although not a Queen Size bed full!!! I love donating things and the simplicity of how life can be! :) Great job.

  4. Holy. cow. Boys have considerably less stuffed items, thankfully. :)
