We had an open house on Sunday which netted a total of 6 lookers. However, none were interested enough. Since then, we have had two Realtors show the house, one on Tuesday, one on Wednesday and again, no offers yet. I just got word that there will be another showing in a couple of hours. All this interest is great and I feel that we are very blessed. Nine lookers in less than a week is amazing!
It is so depressing having to constantly have the house an hour away from being ready to show (they told us we'd always get at least an hour's notice.) It is one thing to keep a clean house, but it is quiet another to keep an unlived in house. As advised from our realtor, we have removed most pictures and holy images from our walls. We left up crucifixes in every room and 2 picture frames with family pictures in them and that is it. Our dressers have nothing on top except an alarm clock and a baby monitor. I always hesitate before getting the toys out for the girls. And, as funny as it sounds, one of my least favorite parts is having to leave all the lights on before we leave for a showing when all the blinds and curtains are open all the way letting in plenty of light.
The excitement of having our house for sale has definitely worn off for me. I am ready to pack up and go to our new house where we can relax and leave traces of life all over the house. Apparently, God is giving me an opportunity to grow in patience, so I will continue to sweep, scrub, vacuum and whatever else it takes while I wait.
The Realtor tonight is showing our house at 5, so at least I don't have to cook! :)
