Notes for the Baby Book

Baby number 3 is a-cookin'! We are now 12 weeks along. I've had some trouble with my progesterone, but troches have been doing the trick and not making me sick, so that's good.

I had my first OB appointment two weeks ago and my doctor couldn't find the heart beat - which is neither good nor bad at 10 weeks - so he wanted us to come back when I was 12 weeks just to make sure he could find it then.

So, we had our 12 week appointment today. He dopplered around for awhile telling me about how its probably a girl because every time he hasn't been able to hear the heart beat at 12 weeks, it came out to be a girl. He also went on to say sometimes he can't find it until 14 or 16 weeks. All these things were, of course, just to make me not worry.

Then, finally, he found it. However, quick as he found it, he lost it again before he could get a reading of the beats per minute. Encouraged, he kept looking until he got it long enough for a reading. He even turned it up loud so Bernadette could hear. :)

So, we heard the heart beat finally, but it was a whopping 190 beats per minute which is high. The doctor was curious, but not concerned. He said that it was probably high because "she" was moving around so much before he caught her. Nonetheless, we have to go back again in 2 weeks to check it again.

We are trying not to be concerned. If it was something to worry about, we would have to go back in 1 week or have an ultrasound. So, we wait another two weeks and continue to pray for a healthy baby!

  1. Yay! Congrats! That's so exciting! When's your due date? My Ob's have always said heart rates at that stage have such a wide range, and not to worry :) Are you going to find out the gender?
