Bernadette and Clare competed in their first track meet on May 21st. They were very excited. When I told Bernadette that all the kids there were homeschooled, she said, “For Real?!”
A nervous Clare trying to find her happy place. When she saw all the people there, she got very shy and wouldn’t let me pin her number on. After a few minutes, she started playing with Bernadette and Felicity and then was fine.
Some of the Pre-K girls awaiting their lane assignments for their first race. (Bernadette facing the camera, Clare in the red pants.)

Bernadette racing past the finish line of the 50 yard race!
In the afternoon, the girls competed in the Pre-K field events. Here they are waiting their turn for the obstacle course.
A little sisterly love…
Felicity was quite the trooper. Here she is missing one of her pigtails.
Here they are in line for the bean bag toss. They had to toss 4 bean bags into 3 hula hoops.
And throw!
The last pre-K field event was a distance throw. They each threw 3 tennis balls which were then measured. I have no idea how well they did compared to the other kids in any of their events, but I am so proud of them for doing their best and getting through the day without any tears.
After a tough day of competing…
Ahh track competitions! At one point my youngest daughter who ran the mile in high school groused, "I hate the smell of spring." I love the exhausted sleepers on the way home. So true.
