A few weeks ago, I interviewed Clare about what she would like to do for her birthday. She told me she wanted to go to the Children’s Museum, eat at Valentinos and she wanted a pink cake with purple candles. We did our best to make her birthday special. We started on Sunday by taking her to SuperTarget and letting her pick out her gift. She browsed the aisles pushing buttons and trying out various toys. She wasn’t really passionate about anything, so we picked out some T-ball stuff (bat, ball, glove, tee) and a scooter, helmet and horn combo and had her pick between the two. Once she realized that the T-ball stuff meant some fun for the whole family, that’s what she picked.
The Children’s Museum is closed on Monday, so instead, Jeremy surprised her by taking the afternoon off of work and taking us to the Children’s Zoo here instead.

And of course, we surprised her with a birthday train ride. Here is our annual family train ride picture.
Afterwards, we went to Valentinos for supper. They sang to her and gave her two balloons and some suckers. She had a great day!
That night, we ate whoopie pies (with pink frosting and purple candles) and watched Shawn the Sheep before putting the girls to bed.
Happy Birthday, Little Bear!
Oh, and I can’t forget to mention that Bernadette gave her probably 5 presents throughout the day. The first was a necklace that she made (which Clare wore all day) and some money. Then, through the day she would wrap random toys/jelly beans/money up and give them to Clare as birthday presents. She also gave her about 7 pages she had colored from her My Little Pony coloring book.
What a memorable birthday celebration for Clare! Happy birthday----a wee bit late. It is sweet that her sister kept giving her presents all day.
