Randomness

I haven’t had much time to blog these days.  So, I thought I’d do a quick catch up.

* We have officially purchased our own little slice of paradise.  Our 5 acre lot just south of Eagle is sitting vacant as we fear it will until Spring.  We have to see our house before we can start building and the builders can’t put in a good foundation after the ground freezes.  As it gets colder and colder and the slow market toys with us, we are coming to the realization that we are going to have to keep our house in near showing condition for an unknown period of time.  This is definitely not easy with 3 little girls.  I would imagine it to be a lot more difficult with 3 little boys, so for that I am thankful.  We’ve had 2 slow open houses and 2 showings since we listed with a realtor a month ago.  God is definitely trying to teach us patience and perseverance.

* We got a new niece last week.  Jeremy’s brother Chris and his wife Becky had their baby girl, Payton Joan, on October  13th.  We were able to go back this last weekend to see them.  It was a quick trip, but it was a good one.  As always, the girls loved being surrounded by family.

Skrdla cousins – Bernadette holding Payton, Mason in the middle, Clare holding Felicity

* Bernadette turned 4 yesterday.  Jeremy took the day off.  We spent most of the day out of the house because we had a showing in the afternoon.  Jeremy and I were so exhausted from the weekend that it probably wasn’t as good of a birthday as it could have been.  I think the highlights for her were getting to play with her cousin, Sam, and his brothers for a bit and then going to her favorite place, Valentino’s where we happened to run into 2 more cousins, Lucas and Brooklyn and my sister and her husband.  We don’t see them too often, so it was a very pleasant surprise.  We ended the day at home watching a movie she hasn’t stopped talking about since we saw it in the theater, How to Train Your Dragon.  Just an example of how tired we were, at one point, Bernadette was the only one awake watching the movie.  005

* Felicity is 2 months old today.  She had her check-up last week and weighed 13 lbs.  She’s wearing 6 month clothes already.  It looks like she’ll have Bernadette’s body type.  She’s wearing the clothes Clare wore the fall after she was born…Clare’s birthday is in May.  She’s a great baby and for that I am so grateful.  She  sleeps all night, has no allergies and is generally a happy baby.  122

* We’ve been very busy this fall.  We haven’t let having a new born keep us tied to home.  We’ve been doing school 4 days a week, running errands on Fridays, and cleaning then doing family fun stuff almost every week.  We’ve picked apples, gone to the pumpkin patch and the zoo.  We tried to go to a hot air balloon festival, but it was cancelled.  I love that our girls are outdoorsy.  079

* Speaking of school, it has been going great!  Bernadette has read 11 of her MCP readers so far.  Clare’s learning her letters.  Both of the girls are excited to do school everyday and usually get through their lessons without a hitch.  I hope the rest of the year goes this smoothly.

* I have been working on some skirts for Bernadette.  It is slow going as I only get to work on them about once a week.  I’ve made one and a half so far.  She’s great at giving me feedback.  It wouldn’t be taking so long if I didn’t have to set up everything and then take it all down every time.  Oh well, soon enough we’ll have our dream house (or castle as Clare says).
