Simple Woman's Daybook - April 6, 2009

Outside my window... At the end of this cold and windy day, the sun is shining and the wind has died down. It is about 40 degrees outside and gives hope of it being spring for real this time.

I am thinking... I haven't blogged (other than videos) in awhile. It is hard to place blogging on my priority list. There is always something more important that needs to be done. I do enjoy it, though, so I try to squeeze it in when I can.

I am thankful for... My husband, as usual. He took the girls on some errands this evening. The girls woke up around 7:45 instead of 9:00 this morning, so he is giving me the time to myself that I missed out on this morning.

From the learning rooms... I am preparing the last 4 books and last 8 lowercase letters for Bernadette to learn. The next book we are doing is Whistle for Willie by Ezra Jack Keats. We will learn the letters "c" and "d". We've had to jump around a bit. Believe it or not, there aren't many books with the letters "x", "q" or "z".

From the kitchen... I am hoping to make some Italian bread this week for some sandwiches we will have on Thursday. I am also trying to find something to make for Easter dessert. My little brother wants to help and so I have to make it fun. :)

I am wearing... My exersize clothes. I went for a run first thing after my husband left with the kids. I have been trying to get into shape (before I get pregnant again, God willing). I'm getting better at the exersize part, but still need to work on the eating part.

I am creating... The rest of Bernadette's curriculum for the year.

I am going... We will go to Toddler Time either Tuesday or Thursday. We are planning on going to Good Friday services at our church.

I am reading... Les Miserables...still...only 100 pages to go!

I am hoping... The girls go to sleep early tonight. I skipped my nap today and I am probably going to crash tonight. I am also hoping to finish out Lent well. We haven't done so well with our resolutions this Lent. Let's finish out strong!

I am hearing... Spirit Catholic radio streamed over the internet! Thank God for Catholic radio!

Around the house... My husband and I made out a list of how much clothing we should all have in our family. We are in the process of downsizing our girls' wardrobes and seeing what they need to fill in the gaps.

One of my favorite things... A clean kitchen. I put our coffee maker up in a cupboard today. It freed up a lot of counter space. We only use it once or twice a week, so, to me, that makes it worth the effort of getting it down and putting it back up.

Here is picture thought I am sharing... We had a family clean up the yard day about a week ago. Bernadette had fun kicking up our leaf piles.

  1. Oh, the clothes add up fast, don't they? I'm glad you've figured it out early. It took me four years to figure out that the girls had too many clothing items and to realize what they did need and how much.

Speaking of clothes, I LOVE the outfit that Bernadette has on in that picture. And the chapter that we read last night for bible study included some of St. Bernadette's writing. It made my heart ache for her. I'm going to have to read more!
