So, we found some land we'd like to build our dream house on a couple of months ago. It is probably as close to exactly what we want as we are going to get. We've been waiting to make a move on it while we met with the lender we're going to work with and a builder. Everything has gone fine with the lender, it is this darn builder who is killing our buzz.
We met with him about two weeks ago and gave him some house plans that we liked, told him what we'd change on them, and gave him a list of exactly what we want and what we're willing to give on. He made it sound like he could work something out. Well, he finally got back to us with two floor plans (both of houses he has built before) neither of which is right. One is completely not at all what we want and the other is missing key components. Needless to say, I am incredibly disappointed that it took him so long to send us two wrong-for-us house plans.
Jeremy's supposed to call him and see if he'll meet with us any time this weekend and we'll tell him that if he can't give us a house plan that gets us excited, than we will either wait a year or two or try some other builders.
In the meantime, we have to get our home improvements knocked out so we can list our current home (again...) if we are going to build any time soon.
Did I mention I am due in 7 weeks?

You should look up CL Construction out of Wahoo - a new builder, our age, and a great catholic guy!
ReplyDeleteI second the CL Construction!!! We are great friends with him and could get you the information you need to contact him. He used to be a parishioner of St. T's.
ReplyDeleteReal house building is never as much fun as the ones with the couch cushions! :P I, too, vote that you give Chris a call even if it's just for advice...he & Anne made a pretty amazing house of their own! Praying for you all.
