These cookies are the best! They taste like brownies, but look like cookies. They take some work, but are a holiday favorite at our house. The dough needs to be in the fridge for at least 3 hours before working with it, so be sure to plan ahead!
Ingredients:
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
4 ounces melted unsweetened chocolate (cooled)
2 teaspoons vanilla
4 eggs
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup powdered sugar
Directions:
Mix sugar, oil, chocolate and vanilla in large bowl. Mix in eggs one at a time.
Stir in flour, baking powder and salt. Cover and refrigerate at least 3 hours.
I made my dough a few days ahead of time because you never know when you’ll have a chance to finish. :)
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Shape dough by rounded teaspoonfuls into balls. Roll in powdered sugar. Place about 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet.
The girls were my super helpers with this part. They each had their own bowl of powdered sugar. I rolled the dough into balls and put the balls into their bowls. They rolled them around until they were covered, then put the on our holding tray. (Notice Clare’s hair net…aka Bernadette’s stocking hat)
Of course they can’t both look at the camera at the same time.
Bake 10 – 12 minutes or until almost no indentation remains when touched.
I had to bake mine for 15-17 minutes…I think my oven might be slowing down… :(
Enjoy!
* I doubled my batch this year.
This is tough because the girls look yummy too! :-) Well, for kisses!! I think your baking is really what everyone is looking forward to for Saturday....who cares about soup! ;-)
