Organize Me!

Oh, how I long for organization in my house.

My husband and I have put ourselves on a financial plan that will allow us to build our dream house in 4 years (God willing!). Our dream house is going to be no small venture. It will be on an acreage on the outskirts of town or inside the limits of a small town close by. It will be spacious and have an awesome kitchen.

I often day dream about our dream house. I come up with all kinds of things I want or don't want. One thing I don't want is the mess we have in this house. I know that the problem is me. Before I will allow myself to think seriously about our dream house, I need to think seriously about disciplining myself when it comes to keeping house.

Order is pleasing to the eye and calming to the nerves. I don't want any part of our dream house to come with anxieties of disarray. To achieve this inner peace, I need to organize.

The major areas of our home that need attention are:
* Downstairs store room
* Downstairs office
* Kitchen

Some problems we need to overcome:
* We are pack rats.
* We need to invest in Rubbermaids.
* We need to have a garage sale.

Lent is a great time for change. It is not too late to make it a goal to organize these rooms and conquer those problems. It is my goal to organize this house later... We have at least 4 years, right?

  1. I have heard it can be hard to get rid of things when both in the marriage are pack rats. Of course you 'argue' more if one is a pack rat and the other will throw out anything :-). It is really 'freeing' to get organized though Kati, it has done wonders for our lives. You may want to take Saint Anne on as your intercessor in this endeavor to get things pleasing to the eye and calming on the nerves. I think you phrased that so well.
